I don’t know if your comment is correct, my licence was renewed recently and it is for 3 years.

Spain.  What can I say - my quote was from the N332 site and they were quoting DGT ... so .... *shrug* who knows?

N332 just recently published advice direct from DGT - I'll see if I can find it and edit this post.

It used to be every 5 years from 65+, but changed to 5 years 65 - 70, 2 years 70+

EDIT:

Found it.  Extract, then link to follow

The DGT has persistently stated that mobility is important, whatever our age, and so they have no intention to withdraw that luxury, but driving has to be done in the safest way possible....

...

At the moment, we are all obliged to carry out the psychotechnical examination every 10 years until the age of 65, at which time we must begin to renew it every 5 years. Both those timeframes can be reduced if the doctor feels it necessary.

However, from now on, people who are over 70 years old, they will see an increase in the frequency with which they must renew this permit with the aim of “ensuring that the ability to drive remains intact”. Therefore, those over 65 must renew their driver’s licence every 5 years and, from the age of 70, every two years. Although, like now, it is at the discretion of those responsible for carrying out the psychotechnical test, who can force an annual examination, if appropriate.

Just want to clarify - my driving licence was issued in December 2020 when I was 68 -it seems to have a date of November 2025 for expiry. I am now 72 but I presume I don’t need to renew until 2025 when i will be 73, but that licence will only have 2 years on it. Is that correct?  Thanks

As far as I am aware that is correct; you may even get three years on it as others over 70 have renewed and seem to still be getting 3 years shrug

Where do you go to renew your licence we live in mojacar.

go to the place in Garrucha on the seafront just along from the townhall going towards Mojacar they do everything for you.  You need an appointment and take any medication prescription with you. They may consult your doctor depending on that detail.
