Hi, for a car that's a definite YES-you need to book in advance. You can go in.personally.to.book & they will then send it to your phone by text or you can go on the ITV website, choose an ITV station & book a time.

Caravans, motorhomes and lorries don't need to book.

Book online or if you go to the one at Vera they have a digital display that you can use to book it in with. The last time I did it some people did come in off spec but had to wait until there was an available time, so best to book. Oh I think you can also change the language setting to English when booking it in. 

I did book online. On the day of your test go up before your time slot as you will need to register on the display screen and then you get asked to go to the counter with your documents, they check them and then you then sit down and wait for your reg to come up on the tv screens to tell you which number bay you will be going in and your position.when it’s your turn you drive your car around to the correct bay and the inspector will put a receiver on the drivers side to tell you the instruction that he needs you to do as it goes through the various test, you stay in the car whilst he does this. 

Once complete you drive out a park opposite and he will come out hopefully with your docs stamped and a sticker for your window. Good luck hope this helps.

Oh one last think check your tyre size on your car documents and then check the tyres sizes on the car. They need to be the correct size and also be the right rating or higher or it will fail.
