That's useful to know! Is there a banking ombudsman in Spain? It would be useful to know which bank group defrauded you, so they can be avoided!

There is a banking ombudsman, I just think going through that channel would take years off your life. The difficulty I had with the Bank especially not speaking Spanish even though they speak very good English was enough. They seem to have very selective hearing. The bank I had difficulty with, Bankia.

Hi there,
We have used UKForex and Transferwise and been really happy with both. Love the Mastercard you get with Transferwise. So handy.

I have used Currency Fair for the last 8 years. You can accept their exchange rate or specify your own. They charge 3 Euros per transfer.

We moved money through currencies direct when we bought last year. But we have now moved permanently, we opened an account with Unocaja Banco and have debit cards sp do not pay any fees. We can transfer up to £100,000 from our UK Lloyds account for a fee of £9:50 any day.
I find currency fair very efficient and less expensive tha high street banks. They charge three euros per transfer of any amount (subject to money laudering checks) and you can wait for abetter rate if you wish.

Transferred £400 this morning from U.K. using Transferwise, as usual.
445.71 EUR was in the Spanish bank account within 3 hours. The GBP to EUR rate was 1.1204. The fee was 2.19 GBP.
