Good call Maggy I totally agree.best of both worlds sounds better to me also, specially at these unsettling times at min in Spain.WhyBother put yourself through that at the min,I'm a home owner in Spain and have no INTEREST in committing to Spain at all till at least 2029.

Hopefully by then things will have settled down .I love ❤ coming over for my 90 days, DRIVING and enjoying myself in my holiday home and then coming home to my lovely ENGLISH home ,working hard then coming back again.. ...ITS a no brainer.. can't get my head around why peps put them selves thro...

...ugh the stress and turmoil  to try and live there permanently when WERE NOT REALLY WANTED THERE.,so they make it as DIFFICULT as possible for that to happen,as you may read a lot on this forum .

But good luck Jennifer 👍 in your endeavour to get to 🇪🇸

Not sure where you own a property Darrin or where you are coming from with your comments.  We moved here, just to the North of Peurto Lumbreras, 5 years ago and everyone we have met and been in contact with have been extremely helpful.  We sold up in the UK many years ago and lived in Franc for 5 years before making the move to Spain and have absolutely no intention of moving back to the UK, especially the South East where we used to live.  So in answer to JenniferH2022 question, it would be a good idea to rent initially before you settle on a permanent location as there are many wonderful parts of Spain to set up home.  For the record, it is no more difficult for UK citizens than any other European provided you have the capital behind you and can meet the NLV requirements, which I would suggest that the vast number of UK citizens that are still making the move, are more than capable of doing.  Best of luck with your search Jennifer.

Someone has said that you’ll get lots of different opinions. Mine would be to dip your toes. Keep a home base in Ireland and live in Spain for at least six months before you make a final decision. You are asking the question which suggests you may have some doubts. Listen to your feelings.

I don't live in Ireland I live in England and yes I own a house there but, its the process being a non EU citizen that is causing me issues

Hi, if you can meet the NLV requirements there really is no issue.  -  https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwi87u62ud6AAxXcUkECHbH1A98YABAAGgJ3cw&ae=2&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIvO7utrnegAMV3FJBAh2x9QPfEAAYAiAAEgLLKvD_BwE&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAASJuRoU9oNZIZdLne6USrkTMwExx0BUfa_TYUel-NUXfKXqI1dprF2&sig=AOD64_2c8LQdBPXWWKg-vRNI2IjHauis1A&q&adurl&ved=2ahUKEwjF2uW2ud6AAxW6VqQEHZ9LBAAQ0Qx6BAgOEAE

I don’t know why you say “they” make it so difficult to live here; maybe in the area you are I don’t know, but ever since we’ve arrived we’ve had nothing but support and help - from the community, from our Asesora and during Covid, from the government.  It’s not difficult to li...

To say “they” don’t want us here simply isn’t true.  If you are prepared to integrate and be part of the community, you’ll be welcomed with open arms.

I can't agree more Darrio. Yes you will know from my posts the bureaucracy drives me mad. But at least you can walk the streets safely. You can get a medical appointment pronto. If you have a legal problem the guadia respond immediately. In the main neighbours are helpful. Ask yourself can you get the same QUALITY of life there. Yes of course you will always get someone who comes here either to live or holiday and spend all their time complaining and pulling it down. My reply to them. If you don't like it GO BACK from whence you came.

Well said, I would agree completely.
