I would like to know from people who live in the area how bad it really is ?!?!???
Hello. There are flies and pig manure smells yes. Firstly the manure smells don't last more than an hour, the flies come into there own in April and last until October. I live near a pig farm in the next village to Urcal, When I bought my house with the full knowledge of the flies and the smell from pig manure, I told myself that I would not let it get in my way, and it hasn't. My wife and enjoy the quality of life Spain offers. I recently returned from England I disembarked from the plane and as I walked to the Terminal, a fly landed on my shirt sleve, and I said to my wife I never thought I would be so greatful as to see a fly.

Hi again lol
Found some more stuff in the Euro weekly news.
Chimney sweep and firewood combined.
Site is called " Log on Tommy", +34 619 070 839, November Special.
50% discount on a chimney sweep and inspection with every load of logs delivered.
Go to www.logontommy.com. for more information.
Pool heaters, look at in addition to the others I mentioned.
The ad, in Euro weekly news, bottom of the page on page 62, suggests that you can heat an 8m x 4m pool at 27degrees for a full month for €51.00, thats an average of €2 worth of swimming a day, but you'd have to talk with them about when pool season would start as well as maybe talk to the guys at WS Coverpools who made partners, one works with the other.

I'm sorry, but we need just a little bit more info on where these places are. We were looking today and couldn't find a log supplier. More detailed info would be very much appreciated.

I know this is an old post but my wife and I will be visiting in early September to hopefully view a property in Urcal. Have things changed much in the last 4 years since this thread was started ie, smell and flies? Also interested in the expat community and whether it's still thriving. Just trying to get a feel for what to expect when we come over from UK.
Thanks in advance.

Hello. An honest assessment is no, the smell of pig manure, and any other animal manure is a part of country life, whether you live in England France or Italy, I have lived in the countries mentioned for many many years, 29 in total, as for the flies, they can be a nuisance, but this year not so bad, because the hot dry weather has kept them at bay. I live in the small village before you enter Urcal, Las Labores, its a pleasant village. I hope this is useful information. Regards Alan Foreman
