Is water a problem? Did you find out the answer to the 500% increase by Galasa? What is the approximate cost on annual water charge for a two bedroom home in Huercal-Overa? Is there a page on this forum that gives photos and ideas of what living in Huercal-Overa is like - so many questions as doi...

...ng research on where to live. I will rent first! Gracias

Hi, we, partner and I live in a small village about 9 kms or 12 minutes out of Huercal Overa.

We as well as a bunch of other ex-pats moved out here within about 6 weeks of each other, last year, everyone gets on great, there are still people moving here !!

The local agents Voss cover large parts of the area and have a goodly selection of properties of all kinds and sizes, they even have a rentsl department.

In Urcal, our village theres a nice bar/restaurant, small supermarket thats well stocked, theres a doctors surgery with a great receptionist Miriam who helps translaye.

We love it here. 7 minutes from the motorway too.

Thank you for your comments. I won’t have a car so will need to be walking distance to amenities like municipal pool; shops and a job. Any tips on best airport and public transport? I would ideally fly out from Southampton or Birmingham and if I had too Heathrow.

Hi, with no car and your list of wants/needs then you could look at Huercal Overa centre, or a bit further nearer to the coast Turre and Mojacar as theres a good bus service connecting the two. La Alfoquia has a municipal pool too.

Closest best airport might be Almeria as jet2 are flying out if a bunch of different airports to Almeria this year, Ryanair as ever might be cheapest, you can get good connections from both Almeria and Murcia to this area, if your lucky you can sometimes find someone who's going to airports and coming back empty who could maybe hitch a ride with.

The one thing we dont have in the area is any kind of train service, promised but it wont be for years, theres a good bus service you'll notice on the motorways, Alsa bus. Theres others too.

You might struggle getting jobs as the area is mainly agricultural, service jobs may be a better bet in the likes of Mojacar, Turre, Garrucha etc but you'd need more than passing Spanish conversation to be able to communicate. Anything else just ask.

Thankyou for taking the time and detailed reply. After my research I think being in Huerlac-Overa would suit me well. I will hire a car for a four day visit in July and I know Spain shuts down in August! Do you know a Spanish speaking expat in that town that I could hire for an intensive two day immersion in life pros and cons there? Also just curious is chevy as in american v8 car? My husband raced one and a corvette stingray and now a Mustang although he will be staying in UK!
