Hi, we reckon on roughly €100 euros a month for electricity right now in a 3 bed 2 bath villa with an 8x4 pool
Broken down thats pool pumps on two hours a day. Some plant irrigation, Very occasionally doing a 20 minute skim in the afternoon but not every day.
Some cooking on the 4 ring electric oven, oven cooking we dont really use more than possibly 4 times a month.
We dont watch that much tv anymore, maybe an hour or two at night.
We're using one ceiling fan in the bedroom most nights, we put a/c on in the main bedroom for about ten minutes each night to cool things down.
Gas we arent using right now apart from the bbq. A bottle of gas is around €15.
Water we reckon around €45 a month which covers basic washing and dishwashing and pool top up, showers etc.
Until we get the pool enclosure we've been told to expect 1 inch drops in pool levels due to the heat which is topped up by an automatic pool leveller.
Cant think of much else apart from food and petrol for the hybrid car.
You'll need to budget for big bottles of water which is available in all kindsa sizes from the supermarket, we use 8 litre bottles with a pump, obviously how much water you need is down to how much you drink.
Ice I go thru at an obscene rate lol but you can get ice here in two kilo bags, ice cubes here are great big circular blobs lol, nothing like UK ice cubes, you can also buy crushed ice in two forms one from Consum, crushed, and the much better option from Mercadona.
We have a built in fridge freezer and a small 4 drawer freezer.
If you have a septic tank here you can toss a coin as to whether it'll need emptying on a regular pasis or not at all, the septic here hadnt been emptied for around 9 years of holiday usage, 3 months on, 3 months off.
To empty and wash out costs around €100.
Anything specific just ask.
Get yourselves out here its not what it costs but the quality of life you get for how little it really costs.

Hi, back in around last October/November partner sold her 3 bed 1 bath house in Saffron Walden in just six days !!
When we first came, we flew out on the friday, were shown around the Arboleas area by a great guy from Coles of Andalucia who proceeded to take us on what felt like the rally Corsica lol, the back roads apparently to and around the area Arboleas where we shown some lovely properties, all with pools, all or most being sold by people going back to the UK for reasons from brexit to grandchildren.
We were recommended to look more for "Lakes Vega" properties as they were built to a much higher standard than other villas. We instead chose this one after a friend very kindly viewed it for us and said how nice it was, was in move in condition, the pool was sparkling as a local guy had been employed to clean it and upkeep it.
Best of luck in your search.
There seem to be quite a few estate agents covering the Arboleas area, Coles was just one.
There are a few more in Albox too.

Hi Jacqui,
We would agree with chevyrecycler. As an estate agent we get to see many utility bills for all sorts of houses.
Kind Regards

Should everyone know that Galasa the water company supplying the Huercal Overa region, ( at least) seem to have increased their charges by some 500% ?? or did I misread that somewheres ?. Take it back if I'm wrong.

Is water a problem? Did you find out the answer to the 500% increase by Galasa? What is the approximate cost on annual water charge for a two bedroom home in Huercal-Overa? Is there a page on this forum that gives photos and ideas of what living in Huercal-Overa is like - so many questions as doing research on where to live. I will rent first! Gracias

Hi, we, partner and I live in a small village about 9 kms or 12 minutes out of Huercal Overa.
We as well as a bunch of other ex-pats moved out here within about 6 weeks of each other, last year, everyone gets on great, there are still people moving here !!
The local agents Voss cover large parts of the area and have a goodly selection of properties of all kinds and sizes, they even have a rentsl department.
In Urcal, our village theres a nice bar/restaurant, small supermarket thats well stocked, theres a doctors surgery with a great receptionist Miriam who helps translaye.
We love it here. 7 minutes from the motorway too.

Water isnt really a problem, many people drink the water from the (non potable) water fountains both on the way thru the village and just down the road from the museum.
We drink bottled water from the supermarkets, around €0.80 for 8 litres, and use tap water for cooking and filter jugs.
Cost wise it's down to how much you might use, if you have a pool etc etc.
