Hi Maureen. This is very interesting.  Thank you. I have looked into various possibilities of staying 90 days , then moving to a non Schengen country for 90 etc . Albania is the only place without the 90 day restriction. You can stay a year Falklands too maybe. .uk would be too expensive for...

... rent if my house is unavailable  So the least difficult option is the Spanish one year Visa. Thanks for the info.

Here's a better idea. Head to Albania. Once there book a flight to Ireland a non Schengen country. Once on the plane "loose" your passport. Upon arriving in Dublin tell the authorities that you are  claiming  iternational protection. You wish to join the the 2k Albainians 4k Georgians 70k Ukrainians (inc 19k men of fighting age 🤷) and 10k assortment of other refugees from all over the world that the Irish government has allowed enter in the last 12 months. You will be put up in a hotel, fed, watered and given a free medical card. By the time the find out you are not who you say you are it will be time to return to Spain anyway.

MaureenJ, Good to see you in these parts again. Pretty good advice from you as always, well done.

How are things with your UK holiday home investments?

Hi Matthew. Hope this finds you well. Everything ok over here. Caravans available to rent from March. Still not into a profit yet but its only been 1 year. Think it will take 3 before I see a return on my investment. Love Garrucha/Mojacar and hope to return for a few weeks later in the year. Take care.

Love Ireland but not enough sunshine for me. So that plan is out

Hi. I think Garrucha would be a great place to spend a year. It's a proper working town with a mostly Spanish population ( rare on the Costas!). It has lots of shops, a medical centre with A and E, and lots of lovely restaurants especially if you like seafood. You are also close to Vera with even...

... more facilities and if you fancy experiencing a more touristy vibe you're only a few minutes bus ride from Mojacar or a pleasant long walk. Sorry I can't suggest an agency. A lot of the holiday rentals will offer highly discounted rates for long stays (although you might only get September - end of May), so it might be worth a look at a website such as VRBO.

Hi. Thanks Juliet. It looks lovely. Will visit next year!

Many thanks. I do appreciate it. And yes that is a B dirty word. I am planning a holiday of a week next year to look around. Loads to plan etc and it will take 3 years to do everything. As I say I only want to stay a year , not retire there.

Thank you !! Hope you fare better than I did...Far too many Bris about with too much time and too few brain cells unfortunately...my advice would be to steer well clear of most of the Brit owned bars.Stick with the Spanish places whenever possible Certainly dont turn up in a bright red cabriolet Mustang as I did as the Brits will be turn as green as Kermit. Then they will try smashing it up or keying it....Will be glad to get away from the area and I will be more than 12000 from all the idiots.I think some lunatic asylum has lost some of its residents or the local UK village has lost its village idiot especially vitriolic Shauny...
