Is there still concerns of radiation from the aircraft crash of the American B-52 bombers near Palomares?

maybe looking to visit that stretch between Mojacar to Palomares for future property purchase but would like some certainty of how clear and safe it is.

any local knowledge would be appreciated.

You have as much chance of being affected by radiation in Palomares as you have being eaten alive by an Irish snake in the wild. And we in Ireland have had no snakes in the wild since before the Ice Age.

Some years ago a bomb shaped device was washed up on a beach in the south west of Ireland. It was an American submarine locator. But, a story was generated at the time that the "bomb" was that lost near Palomares.
I know what you are thinking. How could a "bomb" missing in the Mediterranean turn up on a beach in Ireland? Never let the truth get in the way of a good story. We still have fairies and leprechauns in Ireland, you know! Of course, the story began in Ballypalomares.

All joking aside,I stumbled upon Palomares over 20 years ago and there was a piece of land fenced off with the radiation signs saying 'keep out', after getting back to the UK I did some research and spoke to friends at work and was told there was virtually no risk unless you dug down on the ground at least 15 mtrs and covered yourself in it.

i hasten to add I work in the Nuclear Industry
