Does any one know what's with all the flies? It's like an infestation you get attacked of swarms of them everytime you walk outside its horrendous. Moved here for outdoor living and cant even sit outside any advice is much appreciated.
I'm told they are particularly bad this year, but generally they are just part of life during the summer. This is why people spend a lot of money putting up mesh enclosures, and part of the reason why the Spanish do their outdoor socializing after dark.
Hi,
Spot on.
We have Fly free zones front and back and, as far as the cottage is concerned, the best investment we made. Not cheap. Either initially or when you want panels replaced. One firm us 75€ call out fee plus 45€+/ panel. One acquaintance paid 13K+ to have his garden & swimming pool covered.
Worse yetinland & if you are near.pig/goat farms.
On our fields I wear a fly-hood. I brought a number from Oz.
Spain; dust & flies.
Saludos,
Bob and Sandra
Mojacar Playa and Puerto Lumbreras.

Second bobl, we're lucky in that partner, after a ruined 65th birthday party with flies and wasps had a pergola with grapes dismantled and sold, another big fruit tree ripped up and an enclosure fitted around the pool and patio as well as the front patio.
Having said that we still do get the odd fly come in when partner does washing as they can come in in youre hair lol.
I remarked the other day to my partner that the pesky things do seem to understand when you swat them and tell them to "f off" they leave you alone for a bit, just arm yourself with plenty of fly swatters and/or instant killer spray you can get from every asia shop.
They do seem more plentiful this year but theres been a heck of a lot less wasps. All part of living in Spain I suppose.

I expect a midges hat that springs open - Scottish midges are very thirsty and clouds of them appear - but the Scots have developed excellent hats so face is covered - might look a bit odd in town though 🤣😂

Thank you all. Usefull information for when I purchase. I'm renting at min so the bee suits are on order.
Interesting. I’ve always found much fewer flies than in U.K. in Mojacar Playa.

We were at almanzora renting a villa last year , it drove us nuts , every time you took a bite to eat they would be in your mouth , so we moved pretty quick , don’t suffer at all now
