Apple doesn’t need antivirus - iOS only runs on iPhone and whilst there have been some exploits published, they all rely on a person physically gaining access to your phone.  There is no virus that can be triggered by receiving a message with a malicious attachment.  The last attempt was freezing the phone when opening a message containing a series of i think it was Indian characters - Apple fixed that quickly.

Whilst not completely bug-free, Apple is immune to remote attacks, by message or email with malicious attachment.  The Apple kernel simply won’t execute them.

Two things:

Firstly, my best guess is that the app is installed but has simply not put a shortcut on to your screen in the usual place. Navigate to all installed apps, usually within settings.

Second, if you are desperately in need, there is a WA desktop which you can install on to a computer. Your computer will need a camera as part of the install process is introducing your phone to an on screen barcode.

WA desktop displays the QR code .... the phone camera is required to connect from within WA on the phone.  If you cannot find, or start WhatsApp on the phone, you will not be able to enable WA desktop

Wow. Thank you so much for your advice. I have tried all the suggestions but no luck. Seems my what app has disappeard into space...
