Hi, I've just bought a car I Almeria, and been told I need a padron. I live I. El Fas. How quick is it to get a padron in Cantoria? I'm supposed to get the car Friday will I make it?

Thanks

Hi,

You need to go into your local town hall (Ayuntamiento) and ask in there. They should be able to sign you on the Padron. It's a bit like an Electoral Roll with a list of residents in each area. It helps the council to get funding from the government for rubbish collection, street cleaning etc.The funding they get is related to the amount of people living in an area...or something like that.

I don't think you can get it that quick. Ours took a few months but you could ask and say you need it to buy a car, see what they say.

Good luck.

Jan.

Wow that was good. You must have a very efficient town hall. Our Padron took a lot longer but really there's no reason that it shouldn't be done much quicker. Good to know that sometimes things can be done quickly in Spain.
