Evening everyone

We arrive in Santander via ferry end of Feb, making our way to Cantoria by road I think mostly via A-67, and will want to book into a pet friendly hotel that is close to our route maybe mid way or slightly less, and ask if anyone has                  recommendations as to where to book please

Many Thanks in advance

Pete

Hi Pete, Depending on what time you arrive in Santander, it's just a nine hour journey to Cantoria, I've done the trip many times, and stopped maybe twice on the way down for fuel, coffee and a toilet stop. I also live in Cantoria.    Make sure you have all the correct paper work as passengers are being turned away from the airports for not having the correct forms. Good luck and safe journey.

many thanks Hiacynth

we don't dock till 14.30 so thought it might be easier to drive for a few hours then stop over night, as not familiar with the journey, and didn't really want to night drive

Hello. We stayed with our dog in the Burgos Hotel, Burgos.  We did it in March so watch the icy roads.  Made most welcome by owner/manager.  We were driving a hired van so the hotel had private/locked parking.  From memory, think it was about €50 B & B.  4 course dinner in the beautiful dining room was, all in €50 including 2 bottles of good wine. (Huge plate of roast lamb as main course).  You can calculate the distance/time from Santander and then on to Cantoria.

Hope this helps.

Ps we booked on-line from one of the websites.

Hi

We stay at Hotel Mirasierra, at Santo Tome Del Puert, J99 on A1, 3.5 hrs south of Santander. Pet friendly rooms with good local walks, very good on site resturant, on motorway but no noise. Stayed here many times and well used by travellers using ferry. Locked car park for security.

we Have booked into Hotel Tudanca-Aranda II  at Aranda de Duero  (just a couple of minutes from motorway) which is dog friendly and has fenced off  exercise area for them, it looks ok, basic but comfortable, if anyone has stayed there do let me know what you thought of it

Many Thanks

We have stayed here twice.  Domingo on reception is very friendly.  The all in room plus typical local dinner option is well worthwhile.  Initially we didn't realise that there are notionally two hotels here - essentially the reception and breakfast is the same for both but there are 4* rooms in the building linked to reception, and 2* rooms in a slightly more motel format.  We have tried both, and there isn't a huge difference, but then the price difference isn't huge either.

We have been very impressed with the Covid-cleanliness.

Have you worked out how to get your PCR Covid test in time to show the negative result in Portsmouth before Brittany Ferries allow you to board, but taking the test no more than 72 hours before you arrive in Santander?  We concluded that this was impossible, so had to return via Eurotunnel and France.  France will accept an antigen test which is far quicker and cheaper.
