They are slowly introducing their own network.  In the places that have Digi own network, you get 10 Gb/s for 30€ ……

it’s not just lines that are the carriers that can be the problem … when I was with Movistar, line speed was rubbish - paid for 300 Mbps and was lucky if I got 5 or 6.  Now with Digi, same physical line but I pay for 1 Gb/s and get a true 800 odd Mbps up and 930 or thereabouts Mbps down...

...

Hi Dario,

I see that you are always recommending Digi  when this question pops up You also quote faily fast speeds from their service-

'800 odd Mbps up and 930 or thereabouts Mbps down'

What I want to ask is this over wireless or CAT6?

Is this for a desktop, laptop or do you have a server setup?

Do your devices use SSD or HDD?

If a desktop wirleless where did you get your WiFi card and waht is the make and model please?

Over fibre optic; and via an ONT

In Vera it’s a desktop computer with cat 6 between computer and ONT … the computer is running Win 8.1  this device has a HDD.

At home it’s on laptops connected wirelessly - both are HP Laptops but so old I can’t even install Win 10 on them.  Ones a DV7-2022tx which is around 18 years old now, the other is a 15-b010tx Sleekbook which is younger than the DV7, but not much.  Both run W8.1 and have standard wireless cards in them.  The DV7 is 5 Ghz capable, the Sleekbook isn’t.  Both have 1TB SSD installed.

In Vera, the speeds are measured at the desktop with everything not vital to running the computer disabled

At home, the laptops cannot show those speeds of course because WiFi cards are by design half-duplex, but speed was measured at the home ONT using a laptop with everything that hogs resources or bandwidth switched off and connected via cat 6 cable to ONT

OK thanks for the info

So it's only on certain devices and with everything running at the bare minimum you get the speeds.

Do you use a streaming TV service?

On the laptops over WiFi with everything running, I measure 320 Mbps up and down; again, that is to be expected - quoted speeds are as delivered to the ONT, not to any devices connected to it.

On my iPhone X here, connected wirelessly, I’ve just now measured 403 Mbps down, 496 Mbps up.

The only streaming we use is Netflix - never any issues.
