Hi andymac1951 I think your missing my point when I read the article in daily mirror written by an Irish journalist living in ( ,costa del sol) I just felt sad for British people after all they are the people who holiday more than any other country to Spain by the way my profile says im located i...

Bally's opinion is in line with most non British peoples' sentiments regarding the apparent stupidity of a few racists, bigots, protestors, morons, Arch-Tories etc who willingly voted the UK out of the EU. I know we've been over this ground on many occasions before and nothing I say will change the situation. Some turkeys do look forward to Christmas.
Now that "Brexit is Done" we have the same turkeys begrudging entitled UK nationals in procuring Irish Passports. Even a "minus" player on The Chase can see that an Irish passport is like gold to any person from the UK (especially those domiciled in Spain). The majority of the Unionist population of Northern Ireland have applied for an RoI passport and believe me, most of them wouldn't buy bread if it had a wrapping of green paper. But, the 'alf drinking, panama hatted Tory from Surrey remains aloof and thinks RoI passport applicants are disloyal to Great Britain for whatever reason.
These fools still believe that Brexit is "a work in progress" - get one thing straight whatever Brexit is or isn't, it's not a work in progress. I reckon the opposite is the case. But, "Torified" fools will always be Tory Fools and the penny will not ever drop for them. I have written to the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs to argue the case for illegal Brits in Spain to be allowed some leeway in applying for their residencia. I hope legal Brits in Spain and in the UK are doing the same - But, apparently not, the "I'm alright Jack" syndrome is alive and well.
The irony of the situation is (bearing in mind the tight situation there was between voting in Remain and Exit). If all the Brits in Spain voted to Remain, it would have been carried. Consequently, we have a situation where many Spain based Brits who detested illegals in the UK now find themselves to be illegal in Spain. So, if you are offended by being called a turkey, please accept my apology.
The Inevitable:- It is only a matter of time before those feared buses giving one way tickets to illegal Brits will start rolling towards Gibraltar. You cannot keep looking over your shoulder forever. Even that speeding ticket could mean disaster for you. Your dog pooing in public places will gain attention. Then there's the sure probability that fellow Brits will report illegal Brits. Do you think this can't happen? Sorry! but some turkeys do look forward to Christmas.
Summary:- If you are entitled to gain an Irish Passport, take the opportunity; don't dismiss the obvious gain - the UK doesn't have too many friends outside of the UK despite the opinions of those who think former colonies will come to the rescue because they are just waiting in the high grass to ambush. Time will tell so don't delay, if you have a grandparent/parent/sibling who is Irish (even if they can't find Dublin on a map) go about getting an Irish passport. You can still shout for England, wash your car on Sunday mornings, play cricket and still hate Megan Markle.

It's pretty windy and wet here and Storm Barra is only getting under way. I didn't see any of the usual yuppies on the beach earlier with their wet suits and car plug in heated eiderdown coats for when they'd return after spending all of two minutes in the Atlantic. I live in the south east and it's the south and south west coasts that are really being battered by the storm. But, if it takes a storm to keep Ireland's answer to the Lidl-Gin drinking (from a Gordons bottle) panama hat brigade from me it ain't half bad.
We were in Fairyhouse recently where Mrs Matt got a selfie with Rachel Blackmore while I was off at the Tote. It was Mrs Matt's second ever visit to a race course and she gets a few words with "Rachel" her new best friend. We live in the same parish as Henry de Bromhead and I've met him about twice in ten years although I knew his dad pretty well. We made a few bob (unusual for us while racing) though. National Hunt season well under way and I'm compiling my "information" for (i) Dublin Racing Festival and (ii) Cheltenham Festival. I made a few bob racing this year, the first year in about thirty that I did.
I received my 3rd Covid jab a fortnight ago and I'm obeying the restrictions and managing to keep clear of the damn thing. Looking forward to getting to Mojacar asap.
