We are a mid 50s semi retired couple looking to move to a semi rural area of Arboleas but within a 10 minute walking distance of a local shop/bar restaurant. Is there such an area, although we will have a car it would be nice to walk occasionally. We plan spending 2 months in March April 2021 to find our way around but waiting until the uk leaves the EU end of this year to understand what rights we will have as a non EU resident buying in Spain. If you have any thoughts or wisdom you can share, we would be grateful, thank you Teresa & Alan

Hello, the neighborhoods closest to the town are: El Prado, La Perla, Los Carrascos, La Cueva and Los Menchones. In addition, all neighborhoods have good services. Rent and see which one convinces you the most.

We are planning to downsize here in the Uk and buy a villa there to spend half and half but depending on how we settle we may decide to become a resident but all subject to this Brexit nons

You carnt just stay in both country's halve and halve, you can be resident in one country UK or Spain, if you stay resident in the UK you can only stay in Spain (that also include the all of Europe) for 90 days at a timer then you cannot return for 90 days

Thanks for your reply, we dont intend spending more than 90 days at a time but over a 12 month period will probably stay for 6 months. depending on how things go, we may well apply for spanish residency, we just do not want to commit until Brexit is well behind us, but thanks for your comment

The only thing if you gett Spanish residencia you will be restricted to the amount of time you will be able to spend in the UK, also getting residentia after January will be a lot more difficult as you will have to prove you have a lot more income coming in I think it's something like 25000 euro each where at the moment it's about 7500 each

Dario on this forum knows a lot more about that

Thats an interesting piece of information. the monetary side wont be a problem, but wondering if we can have dual citizenship?? If not and we decide to commit to spain then time in the Uk wont be a problem, but we just need to be sure that where we buy, we can settle happily to spend quality time. Im sure there are others in a similar situation. Neither of us retire officially until next April so applying pre 2021 is not an option unfortunately but really glad of your reply, thank you
