Let's have a look at this from a dog owner's point--of-view:-

The potential dog owner through vocal or body language indicates that he/she (usually a she) likes dogs (or cats). Suddenly, the waiting staff have something to latch onto thereby trying to enhance the tip and getting rid of a dog of one of their friends. Mojacar Playa is full of such people and unfortunately full of gullible victims. Beware of where you enjoy your coffee, the waiter/waitress can be a predator trying to off-load an unwanted dog and they will take cash too (just to cover expenses, of course!).

A rapport is established and believe me these dog-off-loaders have a unique way of transferring their thoughts on innocent victims. Suddenly, the victim is the owner of an untrained, uninoculated, un-chipped Jack Russel. Sometimes, the victim even feels that they have been done a favour.

The Jack Russell (not the pup you thought you were getting) never stops yelping, whining and barking (and has real potential to bite). You try and return the dog to the supplier (as the supplier said "try the beauty for a week or two"). Read my lips, the supplier won't take the dog back. Duh!

Now you have a dog and much of your time is taken up caring for your new pet and you hope you can train it to be quieter etc. Somebody might even convince you that two dogs are easier to handle than one. What a lie! Take the second dog and you'll have twice the expense, twice the responsibility and twice the stress. So you don't believe me - Take a walk around Mojacar Playa after 7.00pm and there are local shop-owners and local workers walking their dogs which drop poo everywhere and anywhere. Note:- owner with gold braided Adidas trainers hasn't a notion of cleaning up after the dog and the poo remains on the ground.

Like Melissa said in her last post, Turré seems to be the capital of stupid and uncaring dog owners. Mojacar Playa is a good 2nd to Turré. The owners of dogs are owners of two bedroom apartments and who can blame the dog for barking etc? They are cooped up in small areas without fresh air (and likely short of food and water too) for hours every day including weekends. The owner is running her shop while all this is going on and never hears the noise from her dogs.

Have a look at the parallel thread "Dogs are for life, not just for Christmas" which I started on this forum.

Remember, you have a choice. dog owners don't. Don't talk yourself into getting an unwanted dog, even if you are living in Turré.

It’s a bit harsh Mathew . Most dog owners are responsible pet loving humans . Yes there seems to be the irresponsible few that spoil it for everyone else . Just the same as football hooligans , religious fanatics and bad drivers spoil it for the majority. I can’t say I’ve ever been approached in any bar or restaurant anywhere with the offer to buy a dog . I’ve tried to buy quite a few horses in bars much to my dearly departed wife’s chagrin , bless her . Poor old Turre seems to take quite a bashing on the forum with one thing and another. I love the Friday market and the festivals just no proper bus service . Happy Christmas to one and all . Be safe , be happy and enjoy . No present of a dog tho . Devo

Hi I am thinking of buying in arboleas but after reading about the barking dogs well I am so glad I discovered the thread

listening to Dogs barking all the time is not living at all. I will look elsewhere I think

Regards

Billy

The thing is dogs may not be barking when you are looking at properties. Unfortunately they don't bark at certain times. We have dogs barking meat us but the times are random.

I seem more tolerant of them here than back in England. Probably because of being able to be outside more unlike England where time was limited so when I was outside so we're the dogs
