It has been a while since I last posted here. Covid restrictions of course hit many of us making plans to travel to Spain.

Anyway, I'm still hoping to get over there.

I have both a UK passport and also an Irish one and from what I remember, taking up residency in Spain is easier with an EU passport.

Since I first posted, I'm now retired, however, I'm still working, I couldn't imagine doing nothing.

Questions..

I'd like to rent (long term to start with) a small place , big enough just for me, Almeria or not too far from there.

I have a car here in the UK, however, I'll probably fly over first, spend a few weeks looking around the area and hopefully view some properties.

Which brings me to finding accommodation for around 3/4 weeks, hotels or whatever, obviously not too expensive?

I'd appreciate any recommendations regarding accommodation in the area?

Personal Finances, I read somewhere about the required amount of income per annum. But can't remember exactly?

I guess I could hire a vehicle during my visit. I've heard some areas are quite cut-off with little or no public transport?

Many thanks and I'd welcome any pointers, feedback etc... Hope I'm not being unrealistic.

if you intend to settler here in Spain and drive you will need to take and pass a Spanish driving test so you had better start learning some spanish if you don't already.  if you rent for 180 days or more you will be a tax resident.

Yes, I began learning Spanish during the first lockdown.

When I lived in the USA, to begin with, I had an international driving license (12 months)

After which, I had to re take my test.

I believe it's the same for most countries
