Hi all - me and my wife are very serious about moving to southern Spain to semi retire. We hope to get a small rural property to open a B&B but within walking distance to a local village/town etc.  (would be really grateful if you can suggest areas ?).

We are both 63, would we need private health care until we are 66 or is it only until we gain residency ?.

Also how much do we have to have in a spanish bank ?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Cheers

Chris

surely if you are going to run a B&B you will be self employed not semi retired.  Health care comes with UK state pension at the moment might change going forward.  Lots of posts on this forum giving the financial background of retiring here now.  you need a substancial income now for both of you check out Dario's posts for details.

I fear you may have missed the boat regarding being able to work. Most people who did not make the move before January 1st (and have enough money in the bank or very good pensions) are now applying for non-lucrative visas which allow them to reside in Spain but not earn any money.

Thanks for your reply, I saw a very good webinar on youtube yesterday from spain based solicitors etc.

Apparently we can apply for non - lucrative visa's but with amendment's to allow us to do this ?.

Might have miss heard or not undderstood but I will check again.

Thanks Again.
