I’m going to pass on my builders’ methods:

Put on a plastic render, (plaste renovación) onto which you place a strip of nylon netting. Push to sink into the rendering then you put another layer on top and there you are, a good, uncrackable waterproof rendering. You can then paint over this with a waterproof paint (plástica pintura).

A whole wall can be rendered like this in a day but it is worth it as it will last.

Good luck,

Janice

The name on the bag is what I added in brackets, “plaste renovacíon” and the paint is “plastica pintura”.

I presume the netting is called la Malla. I’ve added a photo so you can see it being done on the outside of my building. Zoom in for a better pic.

This is just part of life living in a cortijo - we took all the loose plaster off, re did it all and painted - within a year back to how it was. Just accept it’s an annual spring job! We buy some stuff called capa fina - a white render stuff that has adhesive in it and use that - works better than paint. You can get at any decent ferriterias

Hi people, how can I stop the paint from coming off on my roller in old corteco.

Use cal and apply with a round brush

That’s if you can still get cal

I know a good local plasterer who does damp proofing and general building. He sáys he does lots of this type of work and the only way to solve the problem permanatly is to hack off all the render/plaster and re render with damp proofing additives . If you want his number pm me

You don’t really want to waterproof the walls as the stonework needs to breathe

Better to scrape out the old mortar if there is any and repoint with a lime mortar then paint with cal inside and o
