Hi, does anyone know what is involved in importing a 70 year old car into Spain as i am having difficulty in finding a FULL explanation. No opinions please about younger cars, remember it is a classic/historic car. Here's hoping.

Hello,

This is Phil from Gonar.

I need to matriculate a 1936 Austin and am trying to find out how.

There is a club, Amigos de Coaches Classics and I have been trying to find info from them.

IfI have any luck, tell me how to contact you.

Saludos,

Phil.    659809929

Hi,

I have approached the same club but unfortunately they have not responded. I am in the UK at the moment for business, even though I am no Spring Chicken. Someone gave me some details and it looks an expensive exercise. Give me a day or two and I will compile this for you. It gives costs etc. but I needed an idiot proof explanation so I could fully understand. Tel+441213187727 0r   683 416 846 in Spain when I get back

Hi, I have compiled the little I have been given, mostly costs but I do not want to publish these openly and I will try to get them to you if I can find a way. Bob of Cantoria.

31% taxes in total. This is made up of IVA (UK vat) at 21% and 10% import duty. This is calculated on the value of the vehicle. The value is determined by the Spanish “book” and is non negotiable. Taxes are expected on import.

A great big total and it all depends on the Spanish book value, If we can find out.. My Bristol is forecast at 10,600 Euros and I can apparently apply for a 6,600 refund!  However, I would like to discuss the exact detail with someone who knows.. But I'm not expecting to succeed but I will keep trying!
