Check that it is legal to live in,( enchanting ruins- with- a- view will not get permission if they do not have a currently functioning bathroom, unlike times past), that it is currently legally connected to electricity, if it is not on mains water, check water storage soundness and cost of deliveries, bear in mind that if the surrounding land is classified as rural you will not be able to build anything on it or install a pool, even a fence. You will not necessarily be allowed to convert outbuildings to more accommodation, whatever the advertisment says. Do not believe even what the most highly recommended estate agents may say, even they can make mistakes at a busy time. Check again. And again. Even internal alterations ( unlike the UK) need legal permission with architect drawings and measurements, not only does it cost money but it takes lots and lots of time. But don't let me put you off, it is worth it!
We live in small village about 10 minutes from the road to Albox , this is Totally Legal , it is an ALL Spanish village , twice per week the travelling shop, gas man every other week .
