Hi everyone, Albox is top of my list for retirement plans, but I’m trying to be sensible of thinking of the future when driving and mobility may not be so good, my question is, does a bus service serve Albox, whether this bed to the next big town or direct to the coast? Any help in understanding hire to get and about Easily & cheaply would be greatly appreciated.

no  bus services in Spain match those of the UK for local areas.  to get to the coast from Albox you will need a car and to drive here you will have to take a spanish driving test to get a licence unless they decide to allow the exchange of your UK one for a Spanish one as used to be the case.

Take a look on Alsa.com which is the main bus service provider in this area/region.  There are buses, usually via Huercal Overa or Vera from Albox but the service time wise is a bit thin on the ground.  Vera Playa, Garucha and Mojacar being your nearest coastal towns of note.  Around Albox and surrounding areas there are no frequent (if any) bus services like you would get in the UK for getting around town, just don't exist.  However there are taxis and without a car for local jaunts then would probably work out cheaper than owning a car anyway. You are certainly on the right track thinking of the future and mobility, some of the bigger villages or small towns have all the services you may need such as doctors, bank(s), small supermarkets, chemist etc. so thinking of a property in/close to Albox or in a surrounding smaller town would probably be advantageous.

Good luck!

Thank you very much, the odd  taxi to the buffet then won’t break the back s they won’t be regular, the plan is to enjoy the village life and only venture out for the odd coastal trip and em when bigger purchases not available in the village are required ….. Albox can stay top of my list 😀
