We moved 18 months ago to Turre. First thing we did was had a chat with a recommended           Solicitor .Her name is Leticia Moreno address is in Vera. She guided us through the whole process, setting bank accounts, residencia, utility bills to doing our wills. She is excellent and not at all expensive. That’s the best advice I can give you at this time, Leticia is based in Vera.

are you of retirement age for your health cover if not you need to be private, as once you are here 3 months the UK wont deal with you at all, we are both 59 and moved here lock stock and barrel 4 years ago and as we were not of retirement age had to go private , BUT my then partner was diagnosed with breast cancer after 6 months of being here , we had standard private health cover and we had to pay thousands for what we were not covered for , since then 2 years ago we went self employed and now have full Spanish NHS cover for everything BUT it costs us 350 euros a month for that pleasure so we work part time in one of the markets to try and get some money to cover this ,  also are you married to your other half as if you are not  and one of you pass away even though you have paid for your property out right will still have to pay 40 % inheritance tax , WE got married in Gibraltar 3 years ago 

it is wonderfull living here but there are a lot of things that people dont tell you about that could if you dont know them financially ruin you

PS no lawyer will tell you what i have mentioned, if you have any more questions i will gladly try to help, is your property going to be a house in the country as there are other legalities that you now require to sell and purchase one , again we found out the hard way and it cost us 2500.00 euros as our last house which we sold did not have an AFO or energy certificate so that was the cost also if it a potho and not a septic tank thats another 2000.00 euros to get your AFO 

just beware , and it is still worth it but our very good lawyer not estate agent mentioned any of this BUT pointed it out as soon as we went to sell our house, it would help every one if UK ex pats advised you at the start as most of them know all this

Hi not moving now to many down sides 

what down sides do you see ,  as i say even thought we have had our issues basically due to people not giving us guidance and we would not want to be anywhere else but here , we would never never return o the UK for anything 

oh and dont forget that big yellow ball in the sky, it is a wonderful life 

We wanted to retire, have funds but obviously not working they will dwindle.  So our money wont be going up every year .but we still could have sustained our living out there 

We were quoted high amounts for health care 

here is where we are 

we are both 59 with just over 7 years to go until we receive our UK pension approx say 18.000 pounds per year 

we currently have approx 8.000.00 pounds per anum as private pensions, but have savings not millions but have calculated what we need to add to our pensions per month for all monthly utility bills including social security and our accountants bill every month of 350.00 euros all electricity, water wi fi petrol, spending money for a very good standard of living and on top of that we pay anual payments ie

IBI ( council tax), TV packages, car insurance, house and building insurance, car servicing, communal fees etc

not after all this is paid and as i say we have a great life we have enough to reach retirement age then get what would be a silly amount of money that we could not possibly spend so happy days 

and we still have extra money in the tank for a rainy day if needed , so as i said if you know all the ins and outs then work your finances out and make your mind up 

it is all good reading ia can assure you 

we will have lived the dream since the age of 55 for 12 years then we enter the land of milk and honey 

regarding the private health it is not that expensive 

i dont know where or who is giving you the figures but what i can say is that our knowlege comes from living here and learning how it works

ps we do every thing 100 % legal and above board we have resedencia . spanish padrons, driving licences and after 15 years of paying the social security will quiallify for a Spanish state pension 

no corners have been cut at all
