Visiting Mum & Dad - 10 replies
Hi All. First of all thankyou for letting us join your forum. There is some fantastic advice on here and we find it a great relief knowing there is such a great community in Spain for the Ex-Pats.
Ok, Some advice please. My partners Mum & Dad have been living in Albanchez for nearly 15 years now and they love where they live and adore Spain. The problem is Mum is very unwell at the moment and without being to personal she won't be getting any better. We have travelled quite a few times back & too over the years for visits so we pretty well know our way around.
But with all the restrictions we haven't been able to get back over since Covid really hit. We are desperate to visit them to help out but are unsure what we need to clear security etc..
We know we can possibly fly over ( if the corridor is opened after May 17th ) but have been advised to get an invitation from the police in Spain. Also how many tests do we have to have. We will have had our 2 covid vaccinations by May 17th.
Flights will be available from May 17th to Alicante on Easy Jet.
Flights to Almeria only start mid June on Jet 2.
Looking at the flights on Easy Jet they are booking up quick and the prices are rising too.
Your advice would be very welcome.
Local Primary School - 0 replies
Hi,
My name is Shauna & me and my husband Mark have just purchased a property in Albanchez. I am on here to ask is there anyone with children that attends the local primary school?
I have emailed Albanchez town hall & also the primary school but know one has responded. We are hoping to get over before August. I am worried that i cant enroll my children for the new school year in September. Am i going the right way about this or would i need to go to the town hall in person? We are obviously stuck in Ireland due to the restrictions. I am maybe thinking of using a translator to give them a call as our Spanish is just not there yet.
We are really looking forward to starting our new life in Albanchez, learning more Spanish & joining in with the local community :)
Thanks reading.
Shauna :)

Looking for a job: Job Availability - 8 replies
Hi, a family member has recently purchased a property in Albánchez and is relocating from Ireland with their family. I am planning to visit over July/August in hopes of gaining more knowledge of the area, locals and job opportunities. I am a qualified primary school teacher but will happily take on works in a bar, restaurant, shop, cleaning or farm work etc. I have a very basic Spanish, however, I am fluent in Irish and am currently learning more Spanish via a mobile app. I would be grateful for honest views on job prospects within a 25km radius of the town. I am a 24 year old female and can drive. Any information of where to look or how to start would be greatly appreciated. All hypothetical at the moment, however, due to rising political tension, I am eager to leave Northern Ireland.
Moving to Albanchez - 2 replies
We have been looking at a property in Albanchez to buy and retire to. Can any one give me a general idea of cost for two people per month living in Spain as I have seen many various amounts. Also within the English expat community in Albanchez are there social gatherings or clubs.
Thank you :)
