I hope everybody is safe and well.

Now that France in a tit-for-tat has introduced quarantine measures for EU/UK citizens coming from Spain, is there another way to drive home to England? We are getting desperate to go.

Thanks for any ideas - but no we cannot fly

I didn't realize that France had closed its border with Spain for non French nationals. But, if they have done so, it is a good move in the French battle with Covid-19. It appears to be the case in Spain also. It's not tit-for-tat, it is a positive move to reduce the risk of Covid-19 spreading or Covid-19-Part-2 where it had been reduced.

I know this is not the answer you want, but with what has happened todate in the UK, France, Spain, Italy etc I reckon France and Spain had no other "safe" option.

If you are renting in Spain, I hope your landlord has adopted a Christian attitude and not increased your rent (I understand he/she cannot legally increase your rent, but some of the stories I'm hearing on this matter are not good).

if you are driving to your home residence and have proof of travel, ticket for ferry, and the travel documents that the French require you to carry then you should be able to drive through France to the ferry port.  If you need to stop overnight there are hotels that are open listed on the French government site our neighbours are travelling to Belgium by car stopping twice on the route in Spain and in France to return to their home having been here since before the lockdown and had three flights cancelled so far.   you will of course have to self isolate in the UK when you finally get back for the 14 days.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, I believe both France and Spain now insist on anyone to go into quarantine. I found the info on Euro Weekly.

Off Topic at the moment, but at a later date perhaps it will be relevant. In Ireland we are into one of three weeks of Phase 1 of  several Phases of recovery of the tragedy that is Covid-19. Before somebody jumps in and says we'll be dealing with Covid-19 for years to come, please note I know this already. But, if things improve our Phases may be shortened and we could find ourselves sooner than expected into the next Phase. Conversely, if things start to go pear shape we could find ourselves relegated to previous Phases.

It could be the the same in Spain.
