Thinking of moving to Vera Playa and wondering what nationality most of residents are. Does anyone know the percentage of U.K. Expats?  Also, are most apartments holiday lets or are a fair proportion full time residents. Is there an Enllglish speaking doctors surgery? Do the local bars/restaurants stay open all year? Is it a problem if we don't speak Spanish yet? Sorry I have so many questions but hope someone can help answer a few!

Vera Playa is a good place to be a lot of holiday let’s ok in the summer months very busy but you have to remember that it’s a big place very quiet down the nudist end and more lively the nearer you get to Garruacha.

Hi

I live on Vera Playa, it is very busy during July and August as are all the beach resorts and much quieter during winter. There are quite a few bars and restaurants now open during the winter months, and are told that the new commercial centre Vera Plaza will be open all year. The expat community seems to centre around Hotel Street, Frankie's Bar etc.

My Spanish is limited, I did a year at night school before we came and have managed to get by for most of the time but for the complicated things like going to the foreign office for residency and signing on to the health system we have used an interpreter. As for Doctors, I am not sure, when we signed on at Vera Health centre our interpreter asked did our alloted Doctor speak English and we were told yes. Touch wood we haven't had the need to use her so we are unsure if she does or not. As we still have private medical insurance on the occasion that we needed doctor/hospital we used the private English speaking doctor on Mojacar Playa.

We love it here and although not involved as such with the expat community on VP we have met lots of friends via other interests like gym, swimming, photo group, so am sure you will meets lots of people via your own interests and the community.

Good Luck and best wishes.

For your information we used to live in vera playa but as we got older we lost interest in the beach.

So we are now renting in Turre (only about 7 miles away) where there are many bars and restaurants within walking distance.

To be honest with you Petechad, I haven't been on the beach for at least three years, but do love living by the sea, going for walks along the sea front and best of all hearing the sea crashing when I go to bed. Everyone has different tick lists for their ideal. I also like Turre very much, and if moving it would be a place I would be happy to go.

Hi I am looking to live in Spain and currently looking for areas that suit me. Am travelling and pet sitting in the area for one month and wish to find activities, Io socialise i.e. tennis, walking groups, pilates, restaurants, cinema and theatre. Any suggestions for best place. I have a car so can travel to other towns. Thanks
