Hi. My husband and myself (both in our 70's) have in the last month moved to the Vera Playa area and we need someone to help us learn the local lingo!!! We know quite a few Spanish words but need to know how to 'talk' Spanish!!! Is anyone giving private lessons at all please? We have tried the free local council run one in Garrucha but were out of our depth with that. Any help and advice gratefully received. Thank you all.

In the absence of actual live Spanish classes, may I recommend you look on the internet at "Notes in Spanish". This is a wonderful resource, created by a couple who live in Madrid (he's English and she is Spanish), with videos as well as written materials, at Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced levels. I have learned some wonderful colloquial Spanish from them. Here is the weblink: https://www.notesinspanish.com/

Try Espanglish language academy in Vera. They are up the road from Iceland supermarket, keep gping past the bull ring and they're on the opposite side of the road, on the corner. Tell them Sue Lewis recommended them to you. Native teachers and private, or group, classes available.

Very expensive there when I inquired about improving my Spanish there.I used to teach English and thought maybe they would be interested in some reciprocal agreement but they weren't interested in doing so....

There's a Spanish class on Fridays at Bar One in Mojacar Playa on Friday's at 5pm so I am going to give that a go.The teacher is Spanish but speaks good english.I would rather use a native speaker than someone English...I think it's 5 euros for a 90 minute class...
