Hi can you please help me. I am looking into buying a property in Almeria. We are here to look at properties and look at different areas,  before we apply for our visa etc. I was told by someone I was speaking to today, to be very careful of property value tax. A property can be advertised to sell at say 200,000 € but if it was valued at 400,000 € you have to pay tax on the difference. Has anyone experienced this or knows anything about it please ? Thank you.

Kay62, you appear to have added your post to a question about a local market in Garrucha.  Not you will get many useful replies.  You might want to consider reposting under a more suitable title.  Regards Karen

Walk up the promanade with the sea on your right. There is a slope opposite Cafe Flora to the port. The market is down there

Yes you are absolutely right.  After we bought our property in 2017 a man came round and measured everything up and we subsequently received an additional charge for tax. This also happened to another couple who bought their place a year or so before.

I think you will find that you have to pay tax if you purchase a property for less than the cadestral value.
