Careful Doris, Don't get drawn into this! :-)   Especially if you have sensible suggestions about how things can be improved.

Susi, It really is wearing a bit thin, do you bother reading responses or just fire off a reply based on what you think has been said?

My wife was waiting for many hours, but NOT because A&E was busy.  They left her in public, on full display in the waiting room, with blood pouring from her mouth.  I repeat they were not busy, she was told to sit there until the bleeding stopped.  ...

...

At one stage it slowed down and we travelled back to our holiday home, but on the way it started bleeding profusely again, so we returned.  Guess what, my wife was seen by a doctor and sent back to the waiting room!

This was two years ago, when Google translate was not as reliable as it is now.  I ask you this, faced with a situation where a loved one is bleeding and has teeth through their lip, would you go searching for a translator or take them to hospital?  Regarding locating a translator while in hospital, might it be a good idea for the hospital to have a list of translators able to discuss medical issues over the telephone (as happens in the UK and other countries we have lived in)?

1. Yes I do. 2. No I don't. 3. The waiting area in HO hospital is separated from the treatment areas and individual consultation rooms. Given that it isn't actually possible to see into the individual consultation rooms from the waiting area,  unless you enter them, please share with us your evidence that the hospital was not busy.

Richard, you’re not helping yourself.

Doris, it is a reasonable suggestion, but impractical; quite apart from the fact that the amount of money bought in is not as much as people believe but primarily they cannot insist on a bilingual receptionist because English is not an official language.  They can list it as a desirable requirement but cannot make it obligatory.  That aside, it’s then finding a suitable receptionist who has taken the time to learn English to at least B2 level and kept it up.

Richard - 1. Google Translate was perfectly adequate for the task you would have required 2 years ago.  It was still pretty damn good in 2014, so two years ago … yep, certainly more than good enough - I’m afraid that excuse is a non-starter

2. Translators.  I take it you assumed there was no list of translators and didn’t ask?  Because I think you’ll find, that on request, a list of suitably qualified translators will be provided.

Oh for goodness sake Susi, you are as tiresome as Dario!

I couldn't care less if you beiieve me or not, I do not have to justify, or prove myself to you or anyone else.   If it makes you feel any better, call my wife and I liars, but it will not change the facts.  WE were there, YOU were not.

I am not going to get into arguments with you, because a) I couldn't care less what you think. b) you have proved already that you are not prepared to listen or even consider any view that differs from your own.  c) unfortunately, you are that fixed in your views that even another atomic bomb on Palomares would not change your mind that everything in Spain is rosey. d) this is supposed to be a community forum where ex pats share experiences and support each other, not a platform for venting your splien if anyone has the temerity to flag up concerns about Spanish services.

The only reason I came on here is because I could not believe my wife when she told me about the bigoted responses she received from some contributors when she explained what happened to her, they are as uncaring and  unsympathetic as the treatment she received in the hospital.

Life is too short to argue with people with closed minds; It is utterly futile, so this will be my last post on this forum and the last time I even bother to visit the site.   I will leave you free to find someone else to insult, it obviously keeps you occupied.

Goodbye and good riddance.

You have posed several  questions directly to me. In response I have answered your questions.  It appears that my answering your questions, and requesting you  provide evidence in support of particular  statements you have made regarding the hospital, has caused you considerable frustration. In conclusion, thank you for your latest comments,  the contents of which have been noted.

I also notice Richard didn’t address my refutation of his assertion that Google Translate wasn’t up to the job - THAT was complete hogwash.

His reaction strikes me as someone who has been caught telling slight … “alternative facts”.  The move to attack and then saying they don’t care etc etc is always a good sign, plus the assertion that the forum is here only to support - even if they happen to slag off the country in which many of us live.  The crack about another atomic bomb at Palomares shows an utterly blinding lack of knowledge and understanding of that event, considering it was nothing to do with Spain, other than being the crash site of an American bomber.

Like I said to him and DaveP, if you present an argument contrary to the experiences of many others - expect some push back.  Moving to the attack as he did because his story had more holes than a Swiss cheese and he got questioned on it …. then flouncing off the forum … well ….all I can say is hmmmmmm
