Christmas/NewYear 2023 was warm and sunny in Vera/VeraPlaya/Mojacar/Garrucha/Carboneras/Turré/LosGallardos - shorts and tee shirts up to 4.00pm. Nights were not cold and minimum heating only was required. Spanish outlets can close fully or sporadically or early over the period 23rd December - 7th January. The Brit places will remain open.

Unless you're unlucky you should be able to sunbathe every day. You might even enjoy a swim in the Med on Christmas or New Year's Day. Have enough groceries and wine in just in case your nearest shop is not open. It is good to spend some time in Spain during that holiday period and it's getting more and more popular. I think it's time for you to go about booking accommodation immediately. Likely, you'll pick up the apartment rental for the month of December for the same price of your ten days stay if you wish.

Thanks for the advice

Will definitely consider Vera as an option over the canaries this year.

I know where we want to buy it’s now just finding the right property

The first time we visited at Christmas we ended up going out buying a fleecy dressing gown and slippers just to keep warm in the apartment. The days are usually warm but once the sun goes down the inside of our apartment becomes cold very quickly, so it's heaters on and cosy clothes. On VP most of the bars close around noon on Christmas Eve and open again on the 26th. The Lua is normally open Christmas Day as is Ya Ho.
