Agave / Snout nose weevil
Helpful member
We have quite a lot of agave on our land, and I have been wondering for some while how we can control it. Suddenly in the last 6 weeks huge clusters of it have been absolutely decimated by what we now know to be snout nose weevil and its revolting wriggling grub offspring. It looks as though nature is exercising its own restraint, albeit with rather more comprehensive destruction that we might have planned!
I am interested to know what forum readers think: is this nature, we just let it get on with it, and new plants will come through, or should we investigate chemical treatment to defeat the parasitic blighters?
