Hi All

I live in the UK and have recently purchased a property in Velez-Blanco and will be relocating shortly.

I wanted to know what type of adapter plugs I should order for my UK electrical appliances.

I have been on line to look at various plugs but I am concerned about using high load appliances such as a kettle or microwave with what is generally advertised as a travel plug. My other concern is using appliances that require earthing. I am not familiar with Spanish electrics so if someone could give some advice it would be much appreciated!

We bought a box of ordinary 2 pin (Spanish socket) to 3 pin British plug) from Amazon. Any British to Spain adapters will work. We are going to change the plugs on the appliances to Spanish plugs. You can buy them from Leroy Merlin (Murcia Condomina). We have only recently (January) moved here ourselves although we have owned our house for 3yrs. I hope all goes well for your move.

Thanks for your response. Can you recall if they were type C or type F adapters? Did you use them without any issues on your kettle & microwave? Thanks for the info on the shop, very helpful.

Not sure to be honest. I literally just typed into Amazon U.K. to Spain adapters and everything works fine. Is the house you have bought an older style Spanish Finca or a more modern Villa?

Thanks for the info. It’s a relatively modern house, just wondered if the kettle works okay without any issues as it’s consumes the most power?

Never had a problem with any of the stuff we bought over. Vélez-Blanco is very beautiful we looked there before we found our villa in Vélez-Rubio.

Thank you, that’s good to know. I’ll just go and buy a bulk bag of adapters from Amazon then. I fell in love with Velez Blanco although I’m not in the town itself, I am semi rural. Good to know you like the area as this will be my forever home.

I am an electrician and I wouldn't recommend using travel adapters on high load appliances such as kettles, washing machines and tumble dryers as they may overheat.

Travel adapters are only really meant for short term use whilst on holiday and are not intended for a permanent solution

My advice would be that when you arrive here with your British appliances just swap the plugs for good quality Spanish plugs.

If you are not confident in doing this yourself there are plenty of electricians about such as myself who will do it for you.

Good luck with your move

Thank you for the advice. Are you local to Velez-Blanco?
