Hi everyone,

I'm driving to my holiday home in Velez-Rubio on the 4th August.  My planned route is Calais - Orleans (stopover for one night),  Orleans - Llorett (stopover for one night), then Llorett to Rubio.

My question is; what documents do I need to bring with me regarding the coronavirus issue?  All the advice given on Government websites seems to be only relevant to travellers using planes.

A Coronavirus Sworn Statement (Coronavirus Attestation sur L'Honneur FR) seems applicable for the first part of the journey thru' France - but then what?

Many Thanks,

Paul.

are you coming from the UK first to Calais?  if yes then i'd have thought the ferry company or the tunnel if that's how you're getting there will have a form to complete.   not known of any other documents needed at the border of France/Spain apart from your proof of return tickets.

Yes, from the UK to Calais, and yes, the ferry company does have a document to complete, but that document only refers to the French section of travel!  There's nothing relating to the Spanish part of the journey.

To be on the safe side, I've amended a document I found from a ferry company that crosses directly from the UK to Spain (Santander/Bilbao) for the Spanish part of my journey - hopefully, this should be ok if I get stopped.

Thanks very much for your advice - much appreciated.

Paul.

We came over 2 weeks ago  plymouth to santander. The only docs you need are the usual  passport ,logbook car insurance and M.O.T . On the ferry we had to wear masks at all times outside the cabin and we were temperature tested before we got off the boat. If you show positive you are sent to one side for further testing and no self isolating once in Spain . But you must wear masks all the time you are out in public.you can only remove the mask when in a bar/ restaurant to eat and drink. But do check french rules as they may differ .

Hi,

We are coming over on the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander next week and I have the same problem, the form on the ferry website is meant for a flight. I have checked the Gov.UK  information site and the link there is for the same form.

I am trying to contact Brittany Ferries to hopefully find out what to do. When I get the information I will post it on this thread. If I manage to get through! 🙄

This is a new form that you have to fill in. Brittany Ferries have emailed that it's now mandatory for everyone travelling to Spain to complete the form and they've provided a link to the form. The only trouble is - it's for air passengers and not ferry passengers 🙄 luckily I have a few days to sort it out!

I've spoken to Brittany Ferries. They've been in touch with the Spanish authorities about it and they will have paper copies of the necessary form onboard for passengers to complete.

Yes, that's exactly the same problem I have had!

I'd very much appreciate your advice after you've managed to solve the conundrum!

Many thanks,

Paul.

Hi Paul,

Brittany Ferries realised there's a problem with the form if you aren't flying and they've spoken to the Spanish authorities about it. They will have the appropriate forms onboard the ferry for passengers to complete, so I was told it won't be a problem for us.

Unfortunately I don't know how you will go on yourself with the border crossing between France and Spain - sorry! It's a new rule and there must be loads of people in the same boat, so I imagine they will sort it out by the time you travel.

Good luck and safe journey! It would be interesting to hear how you go on.

Yvonne
