The plot and 'door' number idea is good... but this is Spain and there may be some other reason completely :)
When I bought a house that had to be re-registered I was told the plot number with greater emphasis than the door number (the house had existed for decades but had three different numbers). I was then, before I could ask the question, told I could choose the door number! :) It had to be between eight and twenty-two because they were the houses on either side. I chose number ten because it was sensible and the UK Govt in Downing street was in a state of flux... still is really! :) The street was named after Napoleon to add more politics. :)
What happened next was a combination of utilities would have different numbers, like yours, then the council would have their own too....
The plot numbers are available on a website for what passes as a 'Land Registry' site and can be checked there. You would also be able to see what other plot numbers exist and do a little detective work yourself. I am sorry I don't have the site address to hand.
Finally, ask the postman because he will know you personally and even if the numbers are wrong as above he will know your name (put something on the box?) and realise the name matches at least??
Good luck
