No have not arranged the lesson. But will still go and hopefully can sort it out when we are there. Yes 10 am sounds good, where should we meet you? Might need to give us directions as we do not know the area very well yet.

Best Regards

 Sue and John

Hi Sue and Jon,

Like Karl and Helen we have brought a house in Serón but we aren’t moving out full time until next Summer, by which time you will all be fluent in Spanish ;)

If you are still going to lessons I would love to tag along. I’m currently attending a group lesson in the UK for 1hr a week but when we move to Spain and being immersed in the language I hope to progress faster. Until then I’m practicing daily with the free Mondly app.

Perhaps we could all meet up for a drink or meal as being away from our family and friends in the UK we will need to build new friendships to share our experiences and frustrations, oh and of course practice our Spanish.

Regards Kerry (& Pete)

Hi Kerry and Pete nice to hear from you. By the sounds of it your Spanish could probably be better than ours. You'll be able to help us lol. Keep in touch and please drop us a line when your here. Would be nice to meet you.

Best Regards

Sue and John

Hi Mandy and Russ we are coming to tijola tomorrow to see if we can find the Spanish teaching place. If you would like to meet for a coffee the only place we know is the cafe at the garage. Let me know and we will come in early to meet you

All the best Sue and John

Hola Craig ¡que bien!

Being in Antas your closest town is Vera; I live just outside Vera in the Valle Del Este resort and am extremely happy here.

Vera is a small town of around 18.000 people, which trebles to around 60.000 in the summer months / peak tourist season.

Like most small towns, you may find it a bit quiet.  Depending on what you are looking for in terms of settling, you may find Vera itself a little difficult at first as while there are certainly English speaking expats here, they do not number many.  The language in Vera is unashamedly Spanish with some service providers having a smattering of English - but don’t rely on that.  I have found a working knowledge of Spanish of great benefit living here .....

Valle Del Este, being a resort is well maintained and there are a lot more English here, with a bar in the Centro Comercial being an English Sports Bar, with all major league UK football matches being shown (if that’s your thing ...)

But you are coming at a good time of the year - if you like it in our quite mild mid winter and almost zero tourists, you’ll love it when it warms up :-D

Vera itself is well served with there being 5 major supermarkets in and around with a 6th set to join in the near future (Mercadona / Lidl / Maxi Día / Supermercado Vega / Iceland’s ... and I’m sworn to secrecy on the 6th moving soon)

You of course have all necessary other amenities, post office etc, a few really really good cafes and the people are warm, welcoming and friendly

Hmmmmm 🤔 hope that helps .....

Un saludo, Darío

Hola Dario!

Mucho gracias for the information.

Sounds lovely and will only be a temporary location until we find that property we want to buy for our home (unless of course we find one there!)

Re shops:  Probably Aldi... lol

No ALDI close by - nearest one is Lorca, 45 mins up the E15, however LIDL is the one you’ll be looking for :-D

That being said, we do 90% of our shopping at Mercadona as they have a better / bigger range.

If you get homesick for any English products, then Iceland’s sell Waitrose brand foodstuffs, as well as Campbell’s soups, Knorr etc etc etc (as well as Branston pickle and Pork Pies ...... my weakness)

Being a military veteran I am used to moving home, and country for that matter.  I cannot see myself missing much, I will quite happily find Spanish addictions lol
