Painting your villa

Hello everyone. 

I’m thinking of painting the outside of our villa soon. Just white, but it hasn’t been done for a few years and has some mould on the top of the wall on the solarium, similar to algae. Not heavy staining, but I’ve tried rubbing it with a stiff wire brush and it didn’t seem to have any effect.

I don’t have a jet wash in spain. 

Any ideas what I can use or can I just paint over it . I’ve been told PVA glue mixed with water to seal the outside walls before you paint, also, I’ve been told not to use cheap white paint from the supermarket. 

Just interested in what others have done .

Hi there

We once had quite bad mould indoors.

We scrubbed with bleach water, then applied clear varnish, before painting.

When we left three years later it was still mould free.

I always paint PVA watered down before painting or wallpapering it seals the surface and it because it is an adhesive it can help to bind any loose bits.
