Avenida las Gaviotas is where the apartment we're interested in is located? Is this a good location? Is it very built up and high rise? Thank you for your help

Hi full time , it’s not an easy choice to find somewhere and at the right price . I have been going to the almeria province since 1982 . Starting in Almerimar on a golfing bash with mates . After the second year and fed up of watching the paint dry . I went to Roquetas again with golfing mates . Enjoyed so to family there a few times . Because of our business commitments my wife and I took children on holidays while one another stayed at home . Roquetas I loved not to busy , wife on her turn took kids to Costa del sol . As kids got older we followed friends to mojacar and the best thing that happened to me . We all loved the place . Plenty to do without the maniacs . Children now grown up and wife passed away but mojacar is stil my ideal . It’s safe , plenty of shops , good local bus and taxi service . Most of all in my experience good friendly . Helpful people . I have lived there for two years and had winter long term let’s now for over 15 years . Fortunately thru friends and word of mouth somewhere in the region of 500 euro a month for a decent two bed in my opinion the best part of mojacar Thomas’s to Mitaberna area . Plenty of nice family run bars both Spanish and Brit thru winter months . Good value and choice . Thanks for mention Mathew . One tip , don’t take too much notice of Mathews racing tips . Devo

What about San Juan de Los Terreros? Beautiful views and beaches, long flat paseo with benches and Loos.  All amenities.  Good bars and restaurants, supermarkets etc.  Mix of nationalities.  10 mins to Aguilas. Lovely Spanish towns, loads of bars, restaurants, ice creams and delicious cakes. 30 to 40 mins to Mojacar, Vera etc.  Best of all worlds. Good weather all year round.

Looked it up it says it's very very quiet January and February.

No it's not easy and as we always go to Nerja it's difficult not to compare. Can't get anything less than £1500 for the 6 weeks 2 bed apartment,  but it looks like a really big terrace south facing so I think we will have to go for that in roquetas and hope we don't hate every minute of the 6 weeks 🤞

Try D&D lettings in mojacar and ask for Atalayones apartments . I have had three different apartments in that block . Ask for blocks 1to 6 as they get the sun all day 7to11 only get morning sun . I have never paid more than 500 per month but that was direct to people I knew not thru an agent . The apartments have lovely sea views and tennis court also three pools but you wouldn’t want them in the winter . Only draw back it’s a bit of a pull back up the hill from playa . That area is in my mind “ simply the best “ . Good luck

Thanks everyone. I've just looked at a listing for a 6th floor penthouse apartment in the area of Av Sabinar next door to Mercadona supermarket? Says sea view and south facing. Is that a good area for us to be, convenient and not noisy? Thank you once again

Hi

I'd suggest rdm but not the urbanisation, the town. Everything is open all year round and Spanish prices. There are two properties I'd suggest,

https://www.idealista.com/inmueble/97564318/

https://www.idealista.com/inmueble/101122311/

Both are two mins from the beach, health centre, supermarket, bars and restaurants. I know this as I live in the area. There's hardly any English but you overcome that when you're drinking a brandy for 2 Euros. Have a look at the beach.

Different tastes. We have an apartment in the Playa Serena urbanisation and wouldn't be anywhere else. Mind you i wouldn't want one over the bars as although not overly noisy all the sound drifts up.

Avenida de Sabinar next to Mercadona is not where I would want to be in the winter.  Your sea view will be minimal and apart from.Mercadona your shops are usually closed in the winter as it's in the urbanisation.

I don't  advise the urbanisation unless you want to near the golf course if you are golf addicts.  You really are best renting in a more central area and you'll still have all you're looking for as walking is easy and the beach stretch from Roquetas port to Las Salinas is a great area where there is more life in the winter, not far from Gran Plaza shopping centre where there is a big Carrefour supermarket, and cinema showing films in  original language version on Tuesdays.  There are of Lidl, Aldi, Consum, Dia and Mercadona supermarkets in the town centre and a large market on Thursdays in the Salinas area not far from Gran Plaza.  If like me you hate wind, the worst area for wind is definately the urbanisation area but from the port up to Aguadulce the beach is more sheltered.  There are plenty of private and public health services, chiropodists, dentists, hairdressers and an excellent bus service to Almería city, and parking, unlike in many places is relatively easy by the beach.

Mojacar is more picturesque perhaps but for your needs, Roquetas would be the place to opt for.

Well I've booked an apartment  Al Baida Complex Avenida De Las Gaviotas Playa Serena Roquetas De Mar Almeria 04740 so I hope I haven't made a mistake, can always cancel if you think I have but it doesn't look like too bad an area on the map 🤷‍♀️
