I did not know you could go on to health system if resident for more than 5 years .... coooo.

Chris - what counts as “legal residency” when calculating the amount of time you have been here for purpose of TIE etc?  is it the amount of time you have held Residencia, as evidenced by the date in your green card, or is it from the time you first went into a Padrón here?

Dario, that’s my understanding (5 years residency=onto state health system) but as with anything, I would check with CAB (Spain) on their Facebook page, they are reliable.

As regards the date the TIE will regard as the ‘start’ of residency, it will be the date you obtained your green residency card. For me that’s August 2018. Just another 4 years to go till permanent residency...

You are five months ahead of me then! Yes, I will certainly pop in when next in Vera - tengo ganas de conocerte tambien! But Vera is quite a way from Roquetas. And if you’re down this way let me know!

Get a "room" you two, lol,

All this info is making my head hurt lol.

Been here since March 2016, (retired), got Residencia, NIE etc, on the excellent Spanish healthcare system, even got our Spanish driving licences and when we remember on the Padron too.

I can help there - short answer is no - you have to be in country and present yourselves at Extranjeria in Almería to apply for residency; that stands the same whether it is current Residencia or post Bday, TIE
