We became Spanish residents last year and spend most of our time here in Mojacar. We have a property in the UK and need to insure the contents but Saga say they cannot renew as we are not UK residents. Have tried a couple of other companies who all say the same. Does anyone know of a company that will insure us.

Hi, I dont think you are going to be lucky in finding an insurance company that will insure you as you are away from  the home for more that 90 days.My husband and I had a three month holiday in Mojacar  and while we were away had a leek,    we  tried to claim but was told our insurance was nil & void because the house was left empty for more that 90 days. Good luck hunting though..

Hi there, i would suggest you try looking for holiday home insurance or second home insurance. As you are Spanish resident, it may be that you can obtain insurance from a Spanish company to insure your overseas holiday home? I dont know, I’m just suggesting you may need to look at it from a different angle!

Good luck

Thanks, I must admit I think we are going to have to bite the bullet, not insure it and hope!!! Unless, as someone else has suggested and try a spanish insurer.

are you covered for the building then?  is the property left empty whilst you are in Spain?  if you are a resident of Spain have you declared it on the Modelo 320 Declaration of assets?   lots of problems to be solved.
