Hi all I’m well aware of the regulations which restrict stays in Spain to 90 days in any 180 day period.

My question is quite specific.
Is the rule being enforced?

Any advice on that specific question would be very welcome.
( Any personal views on the rights or wrongs of staying for more than 90 days will not be swelcome)

Thanks

Yes, being rigorously enforced. 1 or 2 may slip through but in general it is enforced.

Are there any reliable figures published regarding the success, or otherwise, of  the detection of these “rule breakers”? Or are assumptions the order of the day?

who knows wouldn't like to try it though as the penalties are varied but mean payment of money and banned from travel so defo not worth the risk in my book.

Has anyone heard about more about stamping passports for entry and exit with regards to the 90 rule?

We have just recently returned from a holiday in Spain. We had our passports stamped on entry, but nothing to say we left 8 days later. I only realised the importance of this after reading in the news about a lady denied entry to Spain as she did not have an exit stamp.

I have kept our boarding passes, as this was the advice from the consulate to the lady in the article, but I am slighnervous about our return at Christmas.

Should I be asking someone for a retrospective stamp? (Apologies if this is going slightly off topic from the original post!)

Same here. Stamped on entry and passport put into the passport reader machine. Neither when we left. That was at Alicante Airport.

Hi,

I came through Alicante airport on the 4 November and just prior to the departure gate passports were being scanned and then you moved forward and the passport was manually stamped.

He never said he was ignoring the rules.  He just asked a question.  He is not a Fool
