I am considering bringing and leaving a UK car to my property in Spain. I do not have
Spanish residency, Can anyone advise on what the legal requirements are in
Spain. Do you have to register the car in Spain, what about Insurance and MOT.
Any help would be appreciated
you have to have it legally on the road in Spain so that means transferring it on to Spanish plates and insurance so it is not a cheap option. it would have to pass the ITV test in spain and have the headlights changed. of course you could take a chance and then take it back to the UK for MOT but your insurance company would not like the fact that it wasn't in the UK.

you can take a UK car to spain but you must return it to UK for the next MOT. your insurers can advise on insurance in Spain but I don't think its a problem. you can go to the effort of changing the plates but it can be expensive, long winded and most cars need the headlights changed.
