Just wanted to share our experience. Spanish residents,  double vaccinated in Spain. We flew to UK on 15th Nov for 2 weeks. Received a message from uk track and trace that we had been in contact with a positive covid (?on the flight) Told we must self isolate for 10 days as we weren't  vaccinated in UK. I have tried to argue this but they tend to read from a script and thanked me for making sacrifices to stop the spread! I now receive daily calls and have had to book a pcr test and not able to see family

Unfortunately that is correct and the current rules in the UK.

Totally crazy and not logical but similar to many rules introduced by Boris.

Something doesn’t seem right to me. 2 friends flew on different flights to Uk and they both went through exactly the same scenario. What I find odd is that everyone has some form of test before travel, they are all negative then suddenly once in the Uk oops you’ve been in contact. I smell a rat.

I experienced exactly the same scenario, arriving back in Spain last Saturday, 20 November. I missed out on 5 days of my ten day stay, isolating in a Travelodge.

However, good news is on the way. The UK government is due to change the rules  very shortly and recognise our vaccinations.

I had the same happen to me. I was contacted five days after I arrived in the UK to say I had been in contact with somebody on the flight with COVID. I had already done the day 2 test and was awaiting the result so I then did a lateral flow test and PCR test all of which came back negative. After much arguing I was told to call another number, I think it was 911. I explained the situation to a man there who said I still had to self isolate but after my daughter and I both giving him an earful he went off and came back in the line ten minutes later to say they would release me from having to do the isolation. It seems they are making the rules up to suit themselves with no consistency.

I really hope you are right but can not find anything on any UK government website to say anything is changing from 1st December.

Interestingly, the UK passenger locator form now only asks for your flight number and no longer your seat number so it would seem they contact everyone on the flight rather than just those that might have sat near you.....doesn't really stack up as a logical process...!!

If your looking for logic you’ll never find it with Johnson, Patel, and Javid, there are no crystal clear instructions to front line staff, their decisions are a mixture of guess work and constantly changing rules plus throw in some having a bad day This new variant will create even more confusion and turmoil at points of entr
