My step son wants to get to Spain before lockdown on Thursday. Is the bus running from Alicante to Vera? Is he allowed to catch it?? Can I pick him up at the airport? I’m fairly sure I can’t because it won’t be regarded as essential travel.

The problem lies in the fact that you can only travel from an airport, port etc if going to your permanent residence. As Vera isn’t I would say if stopped at a checkpoint he could be possibly turned back, maybe a hefty fine, if he is willing to take the chance.

Yes I know that’s what I’ve been saying but trying to persuade a teenager to do something they don’t want to do is impossible!!!😫

Jack is right.  Traveling for a holiday or to a second residence is not permitted. There’s a chance he’ll make it through checkpoints.  Equally, there’s a chance he won’t.

You’d need to contact someone like Exclusive Airport Shuttles to see if they are running.  I take it there’s no point explaining to him that borders between Valencia / Murcia and Murcia / Andalucia are already closed, is there?

Are not buses and taxis excluded from the regional border restrictions? They are the only forms of transport permitted during the curfew at any rate, aside from essential workers in private cars. Is there any evidence of police stopping vehicles on the A7? A friend drove a car rental vehicle on Friday from Malaga airport to Roquetas, to visit family here, he encountered no road checks by Guardia on the A7.

I’ve really tried to persuade him but his mother is supporting him too so it’s a lost cause! I’m worried he’ll arrive and get stuck and I’ll be expected to pick him up!

Ditto a neighbour of mine drove from Alicante to Vera without being stopped. For me it’s the principle but I’ve been out voted!

Yes I believe they are excluded and as noted elsewhere it’s clear vehicles are not being stopped and checked.  As Andy says it is the principle - what’s the point of having border closures and a curfew if people are not going to respect it amd say “well it doesn’t apply to me” and just arrive from a locked down country and ignore the border closures? (I’m not meaning your son here Andy - I had French neighbors arrive Friday, having driven down)

On that as well Chris, touching on a conversation had elsewhere, said neighbour us ALWAYS out and about, his car gone from its parking space every day, I see him drive out - I’ve yet to see him even carry a mask, let alone wear one.  He is of the younger set and I get the impression believes rules don’t apply to him.

Today (Monday morning) - police set up a road block on A7, both directions, at Nerja. All A7 traffic was stopped and anyone travelling to airport at Malaga had to produce passport, boarding card and driving licence.
