We are on holiday in Mojacar this coming June with our dog. I was alarmed to read that no dogs will be allowed on any stretch of the Spanish coast in 2018. I fully understand the need for dogs to be kept away from the more populated family beaches in high season. Can anybody enlighten why a total ban has been imposed . What happened to the less populated designated beach's for exercising you dog. You civil liabilities are slowly being taken away, along with threats of legal action and fines. So can  I expect to see a dog enforcement officer patrolling the beach's for offenders and is the law strictly enforced .

Regards

As far as I am aware, the ban extends only through the tourist season.  I would imagine it’s in response to complaints of beaches being left ..... decorated .... by canine bowel movements.

Spanish law clearly states that no animals are allowed on any beach throughout the year. Unless they happen to be a guide dog with a suitable disabled person.

It is not a new law, and it has not just been introduced.

On some stretches of small beaches up the east and south coast, small communities over the years have fought hard to get dog friendly areas. They are very scarce though.

Any other ' rule' you hear is simply bar talk.

Many people particularly Spanish parade their dogs onto the beaches without care.

You like me, English , will pay a heavy fine if caught by the Guardia Civil.

Trust this clarifies the situation for you.

Can anyone advise if Vera Playa is one of the beaches in the south and east where dogs can walked on the beach.

Many thanks.

The law is simple - no dogs are allowed on the beach area at anytime, winter or summer.

However, you do see many dogs with owners exercising on the generously wide grassy area on Vera Playa.

However, Spanish laws state no dogs are allowed on the beaches at any time and all dogs must be on a lead at all times.

You take a chance like others that you do not get caught.

Trust this helps you to understand.

I own a dog too.
