It depends on the type. I buy ventolin over the counter, less than €3. Have never had it refused. Take one along and ask for a replacement.

I get Ventolin over the counter, but I've also heard of some chemists that ask for a prescription, so it may just depend on the chemist?

Hi Marian, you can buy Blue ones from the chemist they are quite cheap, the brown steriod ones you have to get a prescription for and they are a different strenght from the UK ones.

Oh that's Brill, it is the blue one I want it's a salamol easy breathe, so it's only a mild one.  I hope  I can get this from the chemist, would be easier than having to go to the gp.

Thanks for all the info, have managed to get one.

One chemist said I needed a prescription, and the second one more helpful, looked and checked what it was and gave me one straight away, so it is worth shopping  around. And yes it was very cheap too. Unbelievable to what you pay in the UK.
