Goodness, I never knew that, Dario. What makes people wantphones
Well for iPhones it’s functionality, reliability and regular update of the iOS - the phones operating system - that improves security and adds more functionality.
Current smartphones in general are an order of magnitude more powerful than the computer aboard the Apollo rockets that took man to the moon.
With smartphones, generally people fall into two camps, either iPhone or Android and both have their die-hard adherents. Yes, iPhones are expensive and you can’t replace the battery yourself, but I like the huge amount I can do from the phone and the regular iOS updates.
Apropos of that, there is a wonderful app I have started using, EL Parking. For those that are not yet using the app, it’s available for both Android and iPhone and is the easiest way to buy parking tickets .... no more running to a machine, and ensuring ticket is visible in windscreen; simply set your location, enter (or select if not first time) your registration number, select the amount of time you want to park for and accept. Done. You’ve paid for parking. If you need to extend your ticket, no need to go running back to car, just extend it from the app from the comfort of wherever you are. If you are parking for longer than the maximum 2 hours, then when end time if 2 hours approaches, move the pointer if where you are parking slightly so it sees a different parking location - I’m talking about moving the pointer about 1mm here - and get a new ticket - it adds the time to current ticket.
Ive been using it in Vera, and checked with the parking inspectors - yep, they know about it - if car doesn’t have a ticket, they check on their device to see if it is registered as parked on EL Parking. Much simpler and easier .....
