UK car ownership

Simply put, the law is such that a foreign registered vehicle can only remain in Spain for 6 months for non-residents or tourists. If the owner is deemed to be resident then the vehicle must be re-registered within one month of the person becoming resident.

funny how a scooter with UK plates in the Marina del Torre area shows up on DVLA as taxed and mot in UK but has been here in Spain for at at least the 4 years we have lived in the area.

Yes, there’s a couple of cars and vans in my area too. Hopefully they will get caught soon.

Needed mobile repair on autocaravana couple years back, man came, UK plates, had lived here xx years. Asked how he could have UK plates? Had a friend in UK, who had a friend with a garage, mot certificate cost 200 pds. 

of course if the boys in green stop you and you are a spanish resident who has been here for more than 3 months then the vehicle should have been reregistered so MOT wouldn't be needed.  and now if you are not resident then 90 day rules apply.
