Hi, we use Wimax online, we have a 1.8 metre dish which supplies living room tv and supplement this with an Android box, the bedroom tv is also fed by the dish and boosted by an Amazon Firestick.

A neighbour has jyst had Rednet installed and is pleased with it, they have a new office on the street near the Correos post office.

We have had Telplay for last 2/years. Faultless. Firestick but thinking about IPTV whatever that is.

I’ve signed up with 4ginternet.es - no installation of dishes etc neccessary and they utilize the vodaphone network.  They will supply modem / router and depending on signal you’ll get speeds of up to 50Mbps.  The contact there is a gentleman by the name of Steve Bancroft and he is English.

I’m in Valle del Este and get a solid 25 - 30 Mbps down (I have my own router which is only 3.7G) and a god 5Mbps up.  They offer support for IPTV as well

Hi, if youre getting such high guaranteed speeds downloading and uploadjng just wondering why nobodys heard of or recommended 4g before.

Could it not be that on the Valle del Este complex theres some kind of booster like the system that Arboleas town hall internet uses ? We have Wimax onlibe, beand new everything, pay for 30 mgb and rarely get above 18-20

A lot of people have heard of 4G but associate it with mobile telephones only.  No, Valle del Este doesn’t have a booster and signal indicator on my router shows nearest Vodaphone tower is about 5km away.

4G is a good, solid, reliable technology not subject to the vagaries of satellite and not needing a dish or any external aerials or equipment.

Certainly can - as long as a good Vodaphone signal is in your area, 4G will be available.  The best thing is if you move, there’s no messing around with new installations or any downtime - just pick up the router, plug it in at new address and you are away.

I have been using mobile wifi for maybe 7 years as our holiday home in the uk was not allowed a landline. It's OK but will not be as fast as a dish installation, and you need to ensure that the signal strength is good in your chosen area, with the hilly terrain the signal can go from acceptable to borderline to nonexistent within a very short distance. I am presently using a mobile 3g unit to keep our UK contract phones with data when we're out and about, and I can see the signal vary from room to room in our house and even on the short stretch from our home to the motorway.

It will also be dependent on the router.  I agree a mobile 3G solution won’t be as quick, but satellite dishes suffer a little in high winds and poor weather as the dish can move and lose the signal.  Signal will also degrade in heavy cloud cover (admittedly not something you’ll suffer from much in Southern Spain)

A 4G home router, on the other hand, is not affected by poor weather and pulls in a strong signal.  Again, I’m using a Cisco 887VAGW which can only get up to 3.7G and is rated for up to 42Mbps at 3.7G; I’m 5km from the tower and get 25Mbps down, 4 to 5 Mbps up.

I’m saving up for an 897VAGW which is LTE so I can get the big BIG speeds :-)

Cisco equipment is very specialised and expensive and they are my passion, but the routers supplied by 4ginternet.es are just as capable of reaching those speeds and of course have 4 GigaBit Ethernet ports included.
