Hi we are with Endesa for the electricity and was wondering if the bills are issued monthly or by monthly? We paid our first month when the home was occupied in September via direct debit but have not received a bill for the usage in October when we popped over for a week.

Also not heard a peep from the water company even though we are connected up and the DD is in place. Is this monthly ?

Any help much appreciated as we are now back in Britain until May and don't want to get back and find we have been cut off for non payment so to speak.

Cheers,

Julie & Kev.

The utilities are direct debited every 2 months and looking at the records the DD for us takes place:

* water - any time from the 11th to 14th

* gas - any time from 22nd to 28th

* electricity - any time from 23rd to 27th

So it seems that doing it on a set date is just a bit too much to hope for.

Ah cheers Rob for the reply. Makes sense now.

Not so much bothered about the date as just the frequency.

How are the basura taxes collected? Is that an annual thing or quarterly? We are in Vera Playa. I keep getting different answers when I go online and google.

Sorry to sound dim but not had these things explained very well to us and its even harder not living in Spain until the new year so need to make sure we have enough money in our Spanish bank account to cover the costs over the coming months.

Would be so much easier if a particular date could be arranged for direct debits :)

On our Mojacar Playa apt we pay electric monthly and water every 2 months. Always a worry about being cut off with reconnection charges to follow, delays, confusion & irritation. Yes, Franco is still alive and well.

Would it be worth contacting your Solicitor who probably set it up in the first place????? He could then enquire.

Peace of.mind!!!!!

Best Wishes,

Bob and Sandra

Thanks Bob & Sandra for the info.

I do like a good worry sometimes...and it usually turns into nothing..but finding it a bit hard when we are not arriving until May and I am not so "in control" so to speak. I am sure the bills will arrive eventually but we didn't really have time to sort out the post box stuff on the urbanisation we have our home on so just hoping letters are not being sent and the utility companies think we are ignoring them. I know the solicitors we used set up the direct debits but even they don't show up in the Sabadell bank account until a payment is requested by the company.

Born to worry me and I am going grey at 48 :) xx

Hi Julie and kev

We get our Endesa bills every month and water bi monthly. We had to go to the town hall in Vera to sort out our basura payment, they then sent us to another office to set up our direct debit, this payment comes out twice a year now.

Hope you get it sorted.

Hi Jas and thanks for the reply.

We have finally got in touch with endesa online and even they are not sure why we didn't get a bill for October, we have been assured that all is sorted now :)

Just had the water bill....well a direct debit not so much a bill and the website does not seem to have a customer area online.

I think our solicitor sorted out the basura payments but can you tell me when the ones for Vera are payable please?

Thanks,

Kev.

Our basura is taken from our bank mid January. Our Endesa bills come regularly without problem, but the Codeur water bills are very hit and miss, sometimes we get one sometimes we don't.

Hope this helps.

Cheers for that,

Its just a bit tricky when you are in Britain and trying to make sure all the bills are getting paid so we don't risk getting cut off and all that jazz.

Will be a bit easier when we move out in May and can deal with things from there.

Just one more quick question if I may, from what I have read on here, it sounds like a postal box from the little shop on the Burgonvillas roundabout is a good idea. Would you advise this and how much does it cost? We have a post box but don't have the key to access it and it is shared by the other 30 homes on the urbanisation we live on so does not seem a good security choice for bank letters etc, etc.

The shop on Bougainville you speak about is Forget me Not. She charges 50 euros a year and will take mail plus parcels and am told even bigger things by arrangement. I think it's a very good idea if your post box is not secure. We know people who use her and everyone seems happy. There is also a new system by correos who have a collection point in the Consum now, but am not certain how it works It was mentioned on the forum a couple of weeks ago so you may be able to find it. I would think this is only suitable if you are living here and collect you post daily.

Hope this helps, give me a shout if you need anything else.
